Why to have just a small Pyrenean ?

What could I tell of them?

Based on my 35 years spent with dogs, I can state, that no other breeds than this one which is considered small but ever more determinant, brought so much fun and delight in our life.

When we were presented a lovely female puppy by our Czech friends 19 years ago, we had not any idea about this breed. Then we soon learned its ways and we got to know each other for 9 years. We did not think to fall into deep love with a dog breed so full of character.

To live with them is like to always have a bag of fleas around you…..These dogs need a lot of confirmation, to be always in the limelight, but they respect your way of life although expecting something in return. They react to your every movement and they expect to be near to you. They are very clever, they are always keeping an eye on your every step, highly tolerate your feelings and adapt themselves to them. They are very self-confident, they are distrustful in accordance with the breed standard, mainly towards people they do not know. Their confidence has to be deserved and gained (typical French like manner), but once you did it, there is no problem. However, it is also a subject to some conditions.

Their great delight in life, their joy and their lovely little face raise a smile. That is why it is not easy to keep them well in hand. Though it is not so difficult, because they always want to do things you want them to do and they adore you with all their heart. They like to work, should it be agility, or herding, but they also like “who catches who”.

We have been given the possibility to live together with this breed and we are still living with them and pay attention to all their acts, and I can tell you that life is not boring at all with them.
